About Me

Hi! I’m Tamar, a Registered Dietitian and runner.

A little bit on how I got here: After completing my undergraduate studies in Human Development and Psychological Services at Northwestern University, I moved to Israel. I served in the IDF for two years as a combat fitness instructor, where I helped soldiers improve their aerobic endurance and strength through obstacle courses, weight training, and hikes, ensuring they were physically fit for combat. It was while I was in Israel that I trained for and ran my first marathon!

At that point, I didn’t know much about how to fuel for athletics. While I had always been involved in sports, I grew up eating dunkaroos and gushers for snacks (I did win best lunch award in 2nd grade. Thanks mom)! This experience propelled me to pursue further education in nutrition, leading to my return to New York, where I completed my Masters in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at Teachers College Columbia University.

I also completed my Dietetic Internship at TC, where I in worked a variety of settings including long term care, GI nutrition, sports nutrition, postpartum nutrition, and nutrition in the media.

I have been loving applying my nutrition studies to my own life, and am passionate about helping others wade through the nutrition information overload and confusion we see daily. I currently live in NYC with my husband Daniel, our son Eli, and our dog Roo who I hope will one day run with me (both baby and dog)!

How can I help you?

As a runner, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate the messages we’re constantly bombarded with when it comes to nutrition and fueling. Society sends the message that athletes must look and eat a certain way. Are carbs good or bad? What about intermittent fasting? What if I want to run but also lose weight?

These confusing messages often backfire, resulting in exhaustion, low lab values, and even injuries.

When it comes to nutrition coaching, I do not use a one size fits all approach. Every individual is different, so I work with you to understand your lifestyle, interests, and preferences. We work on setting goals together in a way that fits your specific needs.

I believe that by understanding the science of nutrition, we can remove some of the fear surrounding proper fueling.
